If you've ever wanted to pit your iPhone?gaming skills against those of your Mac-gaming friends, it looks like you'll finally get your chance.
Apple is bringing its friendly score-comparing Game Center to the?Mac desktop operating system for the first time.?It will be part of?Apple's forthcoming?Mountain Lion operating system, which launches this summer.?
The news was announced Monday during the keynote presentation opening Apple's annual World Wide Developer's Conference. (For a look at all the breaking news, follow this link.)
Game Center is already available for iOS devices -- making it so you can play games against and compare scores between iPhones, iPod Touches and iPads. But with Game Center for Mac, it brings the computer owners into the competitive equation.
What this?means is that?you'll be able to?play turn-based games across platforms -- or rather across even more platforms.??(The more Apple-owning friends to trash-talk with, the merrier.).
Apple's 130 million Game Center users post 5 billion scores every week, Apple revealed Monday.
