Seven-year-old Jack Hoffman became worldwide sensation during the Nebraska football team?s annual spring game and ran for a 69-yard touchdown at Memorial Stadium. Now, the trading card company, Upper Deck, announced it was creating limited edition ?rookie? cards of Hoffman to help raise money for pediatric cancer research.
Hoffman, who is battling pediatric brain cancer, has been taken under the wing of the NU football program, forming a close friendship with former running back Rex Burkhead. Hoffman will sign several cards and auction them off in the next few weeks. The proceeds will go to the Team Jack Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to pediatric brain cancer research.
?We are humbled that a prestigious sports card company like Upper Deck would take such an interest in our son Jack,? said Andy Hoffman, Jack?s father. ?We are so thankful for their interest in joining our family in the fight against pediatric brain cancer. With their help, we will be able to keep moving the ball forward by getting this devastating disease elevated onto the national agenda.?
